Funny bunny
Big bunny
Bobbi bunny had the time of her life yesterday running around and having fun wandering into the bedroom. She is usually not allowed in but yesterday since we were both in the room, we left the door open and let her hang around. After a while, she took to making herself comfortable sitting at the doorway "guarding" the entrance even :D Realised that she likes to be wherever we are in the house...hehhehe!

Yum!
Jelly Tots
Jelly Tots
My colleague's wife came back from South Africa a couple of days back and brought Jelly Tots from there. The Jelly Tots comparison started when I brought some to work and realised that they have them too over there. We all like Jelly Tots but they cost the moon here because they are sold at the shops that specialise in sweets from UK. Anyway we all have stocked up on our own countries' confections and now have them in comparison right in the flesh :D
The South African ones come in packs of sour ones and berry mix ones too but they don't have the natural flavours and colours compared to the Singapore (UK) ones :)

Funny news
Just read this funny piece of news about a cow falling off the back of a truck on the freeway. I love imagining these funny stories. Of course it is only funny if the cow is not hurt. In this case, the cow was unharmed and "after falling from the truck, it began wandering the freeway". Hehehhe!

Show day!
Went to the Royal Melbourne show today. The weather forecast did not sound too promising in the morning but keeping our fingers crossed, we still went anyway :) Initially there were periods of rain and really cold gusty winds but eventually, some sun did come out.
We spent a total of about 6 hours there, going through all the animal displays, watching people play games (we didn't need to get any of those giant toys that you win for prizes), buying showbags, checking out the food pavillion and catching a glimpse of the diving and racing pigs. The diving and racing pigs were so cute but the area was rather crowded and the pigs went by so fast that I could hardly see much of them or catch a good picture.
All in all it was a rather fun and tiring day. We bought 3 showbags only - mostly food ones since we already got some of the novelty types from the Sydney show earlier this year. See more photos at my Flickr page!

Scones
The process
Attempted to bake scones today after seeing the recipe online a few days ago. I think it didn't turn out too badly. I made tiny bite-sized ones because I think the large ones are usually too much to handle at one go. The only thing is I don't know if that will make them become harder once they cool down (I haven't tried it cold) but they were yummy just coming out of the oven.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups self raising flour
¼ tsp salt
1 dessertspoon icing sugar
1 heaped tbsp milk powder
30g butter
¾ cup water
METHOD
Sift dry ingredients, rub in butter, add water and gently mix by cutting through with a knife.
Work quickly into a dough on a floured bench. Flatten out into a 1.5cm-high rectangle on a lightly floured or greased scone tray.
Cut into squares with knife or pizza cutter or rounds with scone-cutter and place on top shelf of very hot oven (230-240C) for about 10-12 minutes.

Coming soon!

Spring blooms
An update on some of the plants currently growing in our balcony.
Statice
The statice have taken some time to get this far but at least now there are flowers blooming :) Must have been the wrong season to start them in perhaps?
Tulip leaves
These tulips leaves sprouting are from bulbs saved from last year's tulips bought by Johnny when he went to the tulip festival. Wonder how long it is going to take to get the flowers sprouting. The tulip festival this year has already started but these here look like they have some way to go still.

My first sock monkey!
Sock Monkey
Completed my first sewing project with my new sewing machine - a sock monkey :) I have always wanted to do one of these because they are so soft and floppy. This took me approximately 4 hours to do and I am quite proud of it. Not bad for a first try I think and it is really soft and cuddly.

Cold weather again
After saying that spring was here and it was all nice and sunny last week, it has sort of gone back to winter weather. The past few days have been rather cloudy, rainy and cold as well. Rainy might not be a bad thing since there was actually problems of drought coming up in some areas in Victoria due to the lack of rain in winter. Only thing is the winter clothing won't be going to be packed up anytime soon then...

Getting ready for....
Walked past David Jones just now and some colourful shiny baubles caught my eye since I always get attracted by shiny colourful stuff. I did a double take, noticed that there were some trees and nutcracker wooden soldiers in the display as well and realised what they might be for. Checked my watch for the date and decided that I had to get a picture of this as it is only early September. It is still 138 days before Christmas!
It's really early for Christmas!

Yummy pancakes
Tried this pancake recipe last week and it turned out to be quite good so we had it again this morning. The texture is something between a crepe and a pancake so it is rather thin compared to the thicker pancakes that usually turn out. This means that you can eat more!
Ingredients (serves 12! - I usually do half):
* 250g plain flour, sifted
* 2 tsp baking powder
* 3 tbsp sugar
* 2 eggs, beaten
* 750ml milk
* 75g butter, melted
* pinch of salt
* butter for frying
Method:
1. Add all the dry ingredients together.
2. Mix in the eggs.
3. Gradually add milk and butter, stirring until smooth and lump free.
4. Leave to stand for 30 minutes.
5. Heat butter in a pan over medium heat.
6. Pour in enough batter to coat the base of the pan, cook for a few minutes and then flip.
7. Repeat for more perfect pancakes.

Bunny pedicure day
We brought Bobbi bunny for her first nail cutting experience at the vet today! Thank goodness everything went very smoothly. We couldn't do it ourselves because we haven't been able to carry her - we used to carry Small Bunny and Rabbitto bunny when we cut their nails previously.
The vet showed us that by putting her on a smooth surface so that she has no grip to escape and with one person holding her shoulders down, the other person could quite quickly and easily cut her nails by lifting up her paws. Bobbi bunny stayed quite still through the process and only did slightly try to move. We were all quite tensed up, being afraid that she might suddenly try and run away...hehehe! What a great relief it was after it was done in a couple of minutes only.
No worries now for a few months after which I think we need to try it out ourselves...:S

Yawning bunnies
Just came across a website that has an entire picture collection of bunnies yawning! Hehhehe! I haven't got one of those for Bobbi bunny yet...and no binky photo either.
Spring is here!
