Pot o' pig

Look here for a really cute "pigture" of my sister's pet. We couldn't resist putting her there.

Return of the Bunny

We collected Bobbi bunny from Shawn's colleague who was helping to look after her while we were away. She must have had the time of her life there. She had free run of the house and apparently even dug her way to the neighbour's house under the garden! Luckily she didn't chew up anything much except for a phone wire! Hehehe!

Thanks to all the nice people who helped to take care of her! :)

Well, it's a pity we couldn't let her run around unsupervised here. There are way too many hiding places. She is probably wondering why her surroundings suddenly changed again. The poor dear!

Sky pictures

These days it gets dark much later. At 8.30pm, it still looks rather bright. Something like a 6.30 feel to it. Which really misleads you into thinking that it is so early in the evening still when it is actually not early at all - in fact it is night!

Our X'mas tree

With Christmas just around the corner, I thought it would be nice if we could have a X'mas tree to add some festive cheer to our house.

We had to leave our nice large tree back in Singapore and there isn't really space for one here now so we had to improvise. This does look good too doesn't it? Two great ideas put together :)

The weekend

Our first weekend passes by quickly as usual. Did some bowling and played arcade games all for free because of some coupons that we had promoting the new bowling alley in Melbourne Central. Bowling otherwise costs a bomb here. It was all quite fun but now I have aching arms and legs to show for it.

While waiting for Charli and Johnny today, we spent some time in Myer playing with these time-wasting puzzles - getting ball-bearings into various holes and contraptions.

Chatuchak (aka Jatujak) Market

Thought I'd put up some pictures of one of our favourite places to go to in the world (so far :P).

This place never fails to fill me with a sense of awe at its sheer massiveness. On our visit to Bangkok, we went there 4 times! Friday, Saturday, Sunday and just before we left on a Wednesday.

Every weekend, giant hordes of people pour to the market. Just about everyone in the train and on the roads are going there, tourists and locals alike.

On Wednesdays, there is a plant and flower market in the grounds when all the shops are not opened. The main road in the market gets filled up with all sort of plants - even trees! They actually cart trees in on trucks and line them up along the road in front of the shops up to 6 deep! It sort of feels like being in a forest or garden rather than Chatuchak. This place would be great if you had a big garden to set up but of course, there was nothing for us.

Back in Melbourne

Our long one month break has finally come to an end and we are back here in Melbourne, unaccustomed to the time yet, which explains why I am still here online at this time which is 10pm in Singapore.

Of course I feel sad to have to leave my family members, Small Bunny and Singapore in general but life goes on...we will see them again in a year, which nowadays, does not seem to be a long time as the days fly by so quickly. It was really fun while it all lasted.

It will be a busy weekend for us...recharging the fridge with food, collecting Bobbi bunny from the nice people who have helped looked after us (hopefully she still remembers us) and getting all settled down to start work on Monday (ARGH!!).

Cute animal pics

No visit to Bangkok will be complete without pics of cute animals spotted at Chatuchak market. I always make it a point to check them out and give them all the heads rubs I can :) At closing time they were all lining the main road in the market and it was Cute Animal Overdose for me! But a lot of them were tired out from a hard day of being patted by thousands and they were mostly dozing.

Pictures from the Aw Taw Kaw Market

On our trip, we went to the Aw Taw Kaw Market (aka the Marketing Organisation for Farmers) to take a look. I read that it was a food market so we thought it might be interesting to visit.

Saw lots of food stuff, cooked and raw but we didn't really dare to try the food though. We bought mangoes from here to take home though.

Darn it!!

I just spent half an hour typing out all we have done in our Bangkok trip and accidentally pressed the wrong button before saving it and it is all gone!! I don't think I will type it again anyway :(

We will be heading to Patpong for night walks again in a while.

So far, we have gone everywhere we need to go to I think. Our legs never really recover everyday...:P There is a sort of numbness with all the walking.

One last full day tomorrow before we leave! Have to make good use of it :)

Hey there from Bangkok!

We are now in an Internet cafe in Bangkok spending some time since it keeps raining. It has been rather rainy this weekend unfortunately. We got to witness the Chatuchak drainage system and it is really not fantastic, especially when the rains are giant torrents of water. But on the whole, we seem to have been rather lucky with the timing of being in the correct (non-flooding areas) whenever it pours.

As always, we have walked lots and lots over the past few days. Many places are still the same as the last time we were here but there are a couple of new shopping centres sprouting up around (e.g.: Siam Paragon and The Platinum Fashion Mall). Pity we won't get to see them too soon. The new underground MRT system does make it slightly easier to get around this time too (to Suan Lum Night Bazaar especially).

Oh the rain has stopped for now again (2.26pm). Have to get headed for the market...not many hours left...

The value of my blog

Came across this little piece of information which gives you a tiny tiny bit of satisfaction at writing your blog (even if just for comparing with others whose blog is more "valuable"). Like some other users have noticed, where would you cash out the value? It would be a handy piece of cash...:)

My blog is worth $1,129.08.
How much is your blog worth?

One week has flashed past!

We have been back in Singapore for one week already! Got to visit some of my favourite shopping centres, spend time with my family, catch up with friends and eat local food (I then realise that I haven't eaten so many things for quite a while already). Sometimes when I think about what the next 3 weeks hold, it looks like it might all pass by in a flash! In the meantime, I have to savour every minute of having all the nice food here (that is so much cheaper to boot), catch up with the developments in the retail scene :) and catch up with all that is happening to the people that matter.

Bunny news: Small bunny is not small at all! In fact, he is one fat solid bunny :D.

Next week we will be off to one of our favourite places in the world so far...Bangkok! I will probably be even further removed from blogging during that time. Hopefully we don't come back with so many things we cannot bring them all back to Melbourne. Already a stash of stuff is beginning to accumulate from one week of being in Singapore.

Hmmm...wonder how Bobbi bunny, Charli and Johnny are doing over there in Melbourne...
