Wild weather

It hailed last night! I woke up at 2.30am to something like the sound of someone typing and wondered what in the world that was before I realised that it was coming from the hail hitting the window. There was another round again later at 5am.

The weather has been swinging drastically from hot/warm in this month where we also had the hottest day in spring.

Came across this collection of pictures of bunnies disapproving of all kinds of things...it is really funny. Never noticed if any of my bunnies have had this look.

Doggy bunny

Bobbi sometimes seems to be like a little dog :) Now she has learnt to follow me around and she loves to hang around with us when we watch TV while having dinner. Here she is sitting under the table where we eat.

Choux puffs!

Choux puff 

Came across a recipe for choux puffs in a magazine yesterday. It looked quite easy. I never actually wondered how they were made but now I know and I have tried it out too! I can make my own Beard Papa puffs! Hehehe! :)

Ingredients:
* 100ml water
* 100ml milk
* 80g butter, cut into small pieces
* 1 tsp sugar
* 1 tsp salt
* 120g plain flour
* 3 eggs, lightly beaten

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 230 degrees.
2. Place water, milk, sugar, salt and butter in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until boiling.
3. Add flour and stir quickly with a wooden spoon over low heat for about 5 mins or until mixture leaves sides of the pan. Let mixture cool slightly for about 5 mins.
4. Slowly add eggs and stir with a wooden spoon until mixture is smooth and elastic.
5. Place tablespoons of mixture on baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 6-8 mins or until puffed, then reduce temperature to 180 degrees and bake for a further 12-15 mins until cooked inside.

Weird weather

Was watching the weather channel just now - the weather here these days is just going out of hand! Temperatures dropped past zero degrees in some places last night, causing fruit crop to be destroyed. And then for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, it is going to be hot and sweltering (reaching the 30s) with fire danger warnings coming up all over the place. Almost seems like a desert type climate we are living in...

For some reason, I really like this ad for the Sony cameras. It's just cute because everything in the picture is fuzzy and the dog is so happy looking too!

The first tulip bloom!

Our tulip plant sprouted a flower over the past few days and this morning, I thought the flower bulb looked quite big. Lo and behold, it bloomed in the afternoon! :D It is a little small compared to tulips sold in the shops but it is hand raised!

This was what greeted us in the pantry this morning. The biscuit box got filled up so high that the lid could not fit and yet the person who filled it up just balanced the lid on top :D The reason for this is because of the leftover biscuits that are growing in number each day at the bottom as they are the varieties that most people do not seem to like. Wonder how it will look tomorrow...


Candy galore 

This load of candy & chocolate is what we bought with leftover change from one of the group lunches that we sometimes have. There was about $20 left the last time because people did not factor in the discount we got on the total bill. We just look like a bunch of really unhealthy people :P This only lasts for half a day.

Animal farm at South Melbourne market

Went to the South Melbourne market today and spotted an animal farm that was set up for the school holidays. So many cute baby animals and a whole bunch of little bunnies too! It was also fun watching the kids playing with the animals and asking funny questions.

Bobbi bunny had the time of her life yesterday running around and having fun wandering into the bedroom. She is usually not allowed in but yesterday since we were both in the room, we left the door open and let her hang around. After a while, she took to making herself comfortable sitting at the doorway "guarding" the entrance even :D Realised that she likes to be wherever we are in the house...hehhehe!

Bought this from the asian supermarket a couple of days back. Haven't opened it yet but it does look good...:P Have an ulcer on my lip now so it isn't a good time to snack on this.

Jelly Tots

Jelly Tots 

My colleague's wife came back from South Africa a couple of days back and brought Jelly Tots from there. The Jelly Tots comparison started when I brought some to work and realised that they have them too over there. We all like Jelly Tots but they cost the moon here because they are sold at the shops that specialise in sweets from UK. Anyway we all have stocked up on our own countries' confections and now have them in comparison right in the flesh :D

The South African ones come in packs of sour ones and berry mix ones too but they don't have the natural flavours and colours compared to the Singapore (UK) ones :)

Funny news

Just read this funny piece of news about a cow falling off the back of a truck on the freeway. I love imagining these funny stories. Of course it is only funny if the cow is not hurt. In this case, the cow was unharmed and "after falling from the truck, it began wandering the freeway". Hehehhe!

Show day!

Went to the Royal Melbourne show today. The weather forecast did not sound too promising in the morning but keeping our fingers crossed, we still went anyway :) Initially there were periods of rain and really cold gusty winds but eventually, some sun did come out.

We spent a total of about 6 hours there, going through all the animal displays, watching people play games (we didn't need to get any of those giant toys that you win for prizes), buying showbags, checking out the food pavillion and catching a glimpse of the diving and racing pigs. The diving and racing pigs were so cute but the area was rather crowded and the pigs went by so fast that I could hardly see much of them or catch a good picture.

All in all it was a rather fun and tiring day. We bought 3 showbags only - mostly food ones since we already got some of the novelty types from the Sydney show earlier this year. See more photos at my Flickr page!

While we were having dinner, I noticed some bright sparks in the distance and realised that it was actually the fireworks coming from the Royal Melbourne show!
