New Year's Eve
The first of the fireworks for tonight has just passed. The view is not as good as last year's because new buildings are popping up and blocking the view! :(
This year I thought I should just watch the fireworks but I cannot seem to let it pass without some photos. Hehehe!

Boxing day sales
We woke up early today and got to the shops at 8am. The main department stores opened from 5am this morning. There was already something of a weekend feel to the main shopping area when we got there. By late morning and afternoon, there were so many people around - felt like the whole population must have been out shopping. Everyone was frantically buying stuff but amazingly I ended up with nothing (i.e.: no clothes or shoes and stuff) but a Whittard hot chocolate gift set that I was eyeing before Christmas at half price :)

Docklands developments
Went to take a look at the Harbour Town Shopping Centre at the bottom of the Southern Star Observation Wheel which is the Melbourne version of the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. The area looks nice and hopefully will be more populated in future but at this point, it is still rather quiet. For some reason, it felt quite touristy too.

White Chocolate Cherry Brownie
With Christmas around the corner, there are so many cake and cookie recipes in the newspapers. I decided to test out one yesterday.
Ingredients: -
* 185g white chocolate
* 150g chopped unsalted butter
* 1 cup caster sugar
* 1-1/4 cups plain flour
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 3 lightly beaten eggs
* 100g roughly chopped glace cherries
Method: -
Preheat oven to 170C. Line a 20cm (base measurement) square cake pan with non-stick baking paper.
Place white chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan half-filled with simmering water (make sure the bowl does not touch the water). Use a metal spoon to stir occasionally until the chocolate melts and is smooth, then set aside to cool.
Place flour, sugar and baking powder in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre and add eggs and the chocolate mixture. Fold in the cherries until just combined. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out slightly sticky. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
It turned out quite yummy! :D

BLU Christmas card swap
We have received some cards from the BLU swap. I bring them to Bobbers and she makes sure to mark all the cards as hers when I put them in front of her. Hehehe! She is very funny.

A new W&G short film!
On the way home today, by some stroke of luck, I saw that they were showing a Wallace & Gromit short film in the papers. I wouldn't normally go through the TV guide in such detail but this time I did :)
Wallace and Gromit in 'A Matter of Loaf and Death' didn't look familiar and it turns out that we might be the first to see it since the release date is today!
In typical W&G style, the story is a murder mystery and there are some cute bits that I would love to catch again! I didn't manage to get the pics of the funniest scenes though.

One of the best songs!
I love this song! Sesame Street in the 80s' was the best show ever! They don't make kids' shows like that anymore.

Bunny expressions
I finally braced myself enough to cut Bobber's nails today. It was a little hard trying to get hold of her initially because she could sense something was going to happen when we kept trying to tempt her with papaya tablets and raisins and she refused to come out (the clever girl). When she finally got into the carrier because we needed to get her outside onto a glass table, she stamped and stamped her foot. But the nail cutting process was actually very smooth! Bunnypapa held onto her but she didn't struggle at all and I could check every nail carefully. I am so proud! :D
After that, she went to the bathroom and sulked and refused to let me touch her although I gave her 2 raisins and 2 currants. Hehehe! I think she was quite happy actually because she was doing the flop. She just wanted to tell me she was not pleased with me. But after 10 minutes, she was my friend again :D

Horsey horsey
Tomorrow is Melbourne Cup day so there was a parade in the city today to showcase some racing names. I went just to have a look because I haven't actually been to any of the parades that happen for all the various reasons (e.g. Anzac Day, AFL Grand Final, Moomba, Police Blue Ribbon, Olympians homecoming...there seems to be a lot) . It was also a relatively quiet day at work since half the people weren't there as tomorrow is a holiday.
The parade featured former race winners as well as the trainers and jockeys for tomorrow's races. Got to see some the horses "up close and personal" as they were led close to the crowds to say hello.
