Dreary
That is what I feel best describes the weather these couple of days...today even more so. It has been rather cold and rainy and not very sunny at all.

Tango no Sekku
Carp kite heads
Was wondering about the appearance of the carp kites on the zombees and found out that May 5th is Children's Day in Japan but more of a Boys' festival since the girls already have their own earlier in March. Families with boys fly huge carp-shaped streamers (koinobori) outside the house and display dolls of famous warriors and other heroes inside.
Well this Tag Friends thing is a rather educational toy from the looks of it :)
Update:
Mero Park has a carp kite too!

Sydney Easter Show
We went to the show on Easter Sunday. It was really quite crowded. Saw lots of goats, huge cows, horses, farmyard animals, some cats but didn't see any dogs! I would have loved to see the rabbit competition but that only happens tomorrow! Anyway, we spent 6 hours in there watching people play games (we didn't need any giant stuffed toys so we didn't play any of the games), oohing at the animals and deciding what show bags to buy. We got lots of them! My favourite bit was probably the Woolworth's Fresh Food Dome...where it was a food exhibition with lots of nice stuff to buy :) Look at more pictures in my flickr page!

Budget air travel
Went to Sydney over the Easter holiday to visit Darlink's sis and also to see the Sydney Royal Easter show. First time we were going by a budget airline and it was quite a different experience from regular air travel.
The airport at Avalon was sort of made up of 2 "sheds" - one for arrival and one for departure. You could even see the guys standing behind the curtains to get your check-in baggage. Nothing much to see or do while waiting for the plane except for a retro arcade game machine, a foosball table and a pinball machine and watching the ground crew guide the planes manually (by waving batons) when they come in to drop passengers. To board the plane, we walked on the tarmac and climbed up metal stairs into the plane like we see presidents do (hehehe! except there was no red carpet) and you could sit anywhere you liked in the plane since they do not allocate the seats. All in all, everything still went pretty smoothly without the usual frills :)

Guess what occasion is coming up?
It won't take a lot to figure out what all the Tag Friend decorations are for :) Even the Zombees have egg heads now...hehehe!
Easter coming up
Egg head
There is a special treasure egg dig at the Tag Friends Office that I think you can visit once a day to see if you get lucky. I got ticket which won me an Easter edition egg for my Tag!

Ice-cream on a cold day
We did our regular Smith Street-Brunswick Street circuit today which almost always involves a visit to the Trampoline ice-cream store on Brunswick Street. I wonder why even when it is cold, we actually do think of eating ice-cream? Some people (i.e.: Darlink on the right side of the picture) will even do a dance of joy while waiting for one...hehehe!

Seems like winter already
Due to the cold front coming from Antarctica the past week, it seems like winter is here already. Quite a sudden change from the pleasant temperatures we were having just a little while back. Remember that there was fantastic weather during the Commonwealth Games? Now everyone on the streets are rugged up in winter wear already and my extremities generally feel quite frozen. And it is only autumn!

Update:
Giant version
It looks like it might be an April Fool's Day joke perhaps. All the pets seemed to have turned into this guinea pig like creature ;) Visit the website for it! You can even get cute wallpaper :D
